Maya's Great Grandfather, Frank L Pendley, came to Slide Rock in 1907. He filed for a Homestead patent for 58 acres in 1910. He was successful because he knew
about mining. He married her Great Grandma Jane
Thomas-Hutchinson, who had gown up near Westfork in 1921. They had nine kids
including Maya's Grandpa Tom, who was the oldest. The property had 500 apple trees, live
stock, and fruits and vegetables. They were the first to have
electricity in the canyon thanks to hydroelectric power (check out the water wheel Maya is pictured in). Frank and Jane ran "The Falls Ranch" together until Frank died
in 1954. After that, and other Pendley decedents ran it until 1963 when Maya's grandpa Tom took over
and ran it until it became a state park in 1985. Maya's mom learned to swim there! Can you imagine spending your childhood in that paradise? Great history! LOVE IT! Um, did I mention how gorgeous Maya is? We had fun! ~Cameron

We have shot a few families lately with older kids. It's never too late to do a family session! I know many families *want* to do sessions but then they make excuses why they cannot, "oh Emily has braces or we'll wait until the baby is walking or I'm going to lose some weight." STOP yourself from making excuses. The fun thing about family photos is looking back in ten years and thinking, "oh look that's when Owen wasn't even walking yet, and Marty had braces," you know? So if you get it on the calendar it will happen. These times are precious and it goes by fast! We hope families will begin to think ahead 3-6 months and schedule their sessions AHEAD of time. I think when your kids go off to college families realize you don't have much time left to get these family photos before the kids are having their own lives away from home. Anyway, check out this cute Flagstaff family and don't forget the family dog! :)

Um it doesn't get much cuter than this family! I shot Jake and Eliza's wedding back in 2005. Liam is somewhere around 17 months and he's a man on the go. This is always a tough age to photograph but we managed to distract him and get some great shots. The goal was one nice photo of the three of them... I think I managed that! ~Cameron~
