I had a last minute opportunity to shoot a few images for a CNN.com/health about a family from Page, AZ, which is near Lake Powell and about 2 hours north of us.
You can view the story at http://edition.cnn.com/HEALTH/  The story rotates between a few others. ~jamelle

We received a call just before Thanksgiving from a family who needed some special baby photos of their son, Walter, who was about to undertake a bone marrow transplant this month.  Babies and children often lose their hair and become very sick from the treatment.  It will take little Walter a full year to recover.  As a result it became very important to have some photos before the sweet curls were gone and the long road ahead begins.  We didn't have a lot of time where Walter was feeling well, but we were able to capture a few beautiful moments in their home.  Our heart goes out to this special family during this time and especially through the holidays.  ~jamelle

Ethan, almost 2 years, was so funny and so darn cute.  As with most two-year-olds the portrait session is really a game of chase and distractions and this was no exception.  We climbed trees, chased lady bugs and rolled in the grass.  We had one intense, but quick melt down over a wardrobe change, thus the photos with no pants, but recovered for a few more photos with the prized Tonka truck.  Thanks Erin. We loved the photos and it was hard to choose just a few to share. ~jamelle~

Jamelle and I were approached this spring about shooting a firefighter calendar as a donation for the Flagstaff Firefighters, who are raising money for a local boy Dawson Merrick, who got very sick this year and tragically passed away this fall.  Jamelle and I had never really spent too much time studying firefighter calendars but apparently they are all the rage!  Basically, we didn't know what we signed up for... which was a lot of shirtless men in their turn-out pants posing with various firemen gear.  It was certainly an experience to remember!  Everyone involved was so accommodating and we had a great time making these images.  Good luck to the Merrick's--we are very sorry for their loss BUT glad to help sell these calendars for them.  Stop by the studio on Friday night this week, as the firemen will be selling the calendars for $20!  Here are some of our favorites images including some of Jamelle and I at this shoot. We went up like sixty feet in the "bucket" to get a rappelling shot and Owen watched me and still every time he sees a ladder truck he says "mommy bucket firefighter." Mark Johnson (firemen with notebook) who put a lot of his own personal time and effort into organizing this-- Kudos to you-- a job well done!

Charlotte called me a little bit frazzled.  Her Mother is in the beginning stages of her chemotherapy treatment-- that would make anyone anxious. At the last minute (and due to a neighborly act of kindness) her sister, who lives back East, was able to fly into Flagstaff so she and all her four sisters could be together with their Mother.  Charlotte wanted a group photo of all the ladies! We were TOTALLY booked the week her sister was in town but Jamelle and I really wanted to fit them into our schedule so we moved some appointments and shot these LOVELY ladies (Jamelle was sick with pneumonia the day of the shoot).  The idea was to get some fall color, but around here it's pretty hit or miss, so instead I found something very 'Flagstaff' -- tall  grasses! Thanks to Quinn, our c+k intern for being my lighting assistant. ~Cameron~
