My sister-in-law had her little one a few weeks ago, but I'm just a little behind in some of the blog posts. I LOVE sleeping babies for portraits. Once they are asleep anything is possible, however, in this case, baby did NOT feel the need to sleep-- which can make everything a little more challenging. Oh well. I don't usually use too many props with our newborns, but I did want to try a picture with a saddle since my sister-in-law is very involved with her horses here in town. I drew my inspiration from a photographer I admire from back east - black horse studio. Obviously this would have worked a little better with a non-fussy baby. We didn't push it, so this was what we captured. ~jamelle

I spent the weekend with my mom and though I knew she would protest, I really wanted to take a portrait of her for mother's day. I know she would rather be riding her new Harley or playing tennis with her friends, but she has always been there for me and my family- even if it means getting in front of the camera for me every now and again. I'm sure my siblings will appreciate it years down the road. Thanks mom for everything. You have always been exactly what I have needed. Love you! ~Jamelle

Naomi is just finishing up kindergarten at Marshall Elementary School and it's been a wonderful year with awesome teachers. One of the great programs they have is the Suzuki violin class twice a week. Today was their big performance held just outside my office door on Heritage Square. Kris, a past wedding client, is one of the lead instructors pictured here with the kids. You can view her wedding post here ~jamelle

It has been a challenge to get to the office this week with all of the snow Northern Arizona has had in the last few days. We are going on day three of no school, which can be fun or drive anyone crazy. And at the moment the radio is playing "Winter Wonderland" no kidding. I just wanted to give our clients a little update and let you know that we will be returning calls and getting print orders done as soon as we dig out! My brother, Garrett, and his family stayed the week with my parents down in Phoenix for the holidays. We took a quick trip down for Christmas Eve to see everyone and enjoy some of the warmer weather for the day. Of course, being the family photographer, you can't get away without some family portraits. Brecken is two and is packed full of adorable energy. Addi, is almost 5 months old and is a sweet and calm as can be. ~jamelle
